The Google Sandbox has long been debated throughout the search engine optimization industry, but now a new concept is emerging that says Google penalizes new sites with a -30 rule. This rule very simply penalizes new site rankings -30 rank spots. So, if your site should rank #1 it will rank #31 until Google decides that penalty period is over. To me, it seems that there are a several things going on behind the scenes in the Google algorithm that make it difficult for new sites to rank well. This -30 penalty may take effect for certain sites that meet certain criteria and other penalties may be given to other sites. Regardless, the one common belief in the SEO industry is that it is difficult to get ranked well until your site has some age and quality links.
